I'm usually too lazy to cook, so whenever I actually do, I get excited and take pictures.

Boooo. Warner Music Group has demanded that all of its artists' videos be removed from YouTube, including Amanda Palmer and the Dresden Dolls.
Boo, boo, fucking boo.
I want my Amanda videos back, dammit.

I almost saw Natasha Beddingfield today. It's just as well I didn't see her, because I wouldn't have recognized her anyway. I've heard her music, but I don't know what she looks like.
Josh and I were walking along Charles Street in Beacon Hill today, and decided to stop in a cute little chocolate shop. After looking at the exorbitantly priced but delicious-looking chocolates and sparkly vintage boxes for a while, we started chatting with the woman behind the counter.
She told us that Natasha Beddingfield had just left before we arrived. Natasha even gave the woman a free ticket to her concert tonight. And the woman said that, when Josh and I first walked in, she thought we were Natasha's entourage, because we "looked European"!
:)
We had a full fun day of exploring, including a walk around Savin Hill (part of Dorchester). We wandered up and down Dot Ave, found both bubble tea and shelter from a surprise downpour in a Vietnamese market, and then walked around a gorgeous neighborhood full of Victorian houses and trees. I'd known there were nice Victorians somewhere in Dorchester, and was glad to have found them.
We also found, on a random residential street, an amazing view of the Boston skyline--both the Back Bay and downtown! And then we came across a park which afforded us another beautiful view, of Dorchester Bay. It was a really pretty park, and I had fun climbing up the rocks to get to the top.
At night, I went to the MIT contra dance, which was much more fun than usual due to an influx of Concord dancers. All in all, it was a fabulous Bostonlicious day.

Crack found in man's crack:
During a search, Jean Baptiste reportedly became agitated and verbally abusive. While searching below the waistline, without using any intrusive measures, detectives reportedly spotted a clear plastic bag protruding from the crevice of his buttock, and Inspector James Hyde reportedly pulled out a bag of crack cocaine.

Katha Pollitt, you are reading my mind! Stop it now! No, I mean it!
Obama may not be as progressive as we wish over here at The Nation-- and maybe someday we can have a serious conversation about why Edwards' economic populism, promoted for years by important voices at the magazine, was such a bust. But Obama is a candidate in a different mold. He's a natural politician who connects with people as Hillary Clinton, for whatever reason, just doesn't, and appeals to the better angels of their nature. He sparks an enthusiasm in people--independents, the young, the previously disengaged. An Obama victory could have big positive repercussions for progressive politics.
I usually resist words like "hope" and "change." But with Supertuesday barely 36 hours away what I think is, let's go with the charismatic candidate this time. Let's go with the candidate voters feel some passion about. Let's say goodbye to the Clintons and have some new people make history.
Read the whole thing here.

| You Are 4% Capitalist, 96% Socialist | You see a lot of injustice in the world, and you'd like to see it fixed. As far as you're concerned, all the wrong people have the power. You're strongly in favor of the redistribution of wealth - and more protection for the average person. |

You go, Cambridge!
The city of Cambridge, Massachusetts, has made history after the city council chose Denise Simmons to serve as the first black lesbian mayor in America.

Also, why on earth did Obama praise Reagan? Reagan was the devil, dammit. In so many ways. Some of which Paul Krugman has described quite well.
Yeah, I'm starting up the NYT habit again.
